Moisture control is a rather tricky aspect of any building, be it residential, commercial, or industrial. However, regardless of how challenging it can be, the effective control of moisture especially on walls and floors is important to help keep the integrity of these structures. At Extreme Industrial Coatings, our vision is to help you protect your property surfaces, especially your walls and floors, from moisture which can lead to significant damage. We employ only the best products that can do the perfect job of creating an impermeable membrane between your walls or floors and the sources of moisture in your property.

Most of us look at moisture as something that is beneficial especially to the skin. We apply moisturizers to help hydrate the cells on our skin. We also apply conditioners – a form of moisturizers – to help improve the state of our hair, and so on and so forth.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said when it comes to the structural integrity of our walls and floors. When moisture seeps into these parts of a building, it can cause a lot of problems that can include failure of the adhesive properties of the floor tiles, the formation or development of efflorescence salts, structural damage to the floor or wall covering itself, and even the growth and proliferation of disease- and allergy-producing mold and mildew.

Keeping moisture from seeping into these parts of your facility is an integral part of moisture control.

Did you know that hundreds of millions of dollars are spent each year in the US alone repairing the damage brought about by excessive moisture onto floors? Moisture damage is typically brought about by water molecules coming from the subfloor of your property. This typically happens if the flooring was haphazardly installed such as not allowing the concrete mix to dry up completely before applying the top layer or covering. It can also be attributed to using a more liquid cement mixture, the concrete slab getting wet because of precipitation, and even inadequate drying conditions such as what usually occurs when the air temperature is no higher than 50oF. This is why moisture control is so critical in your next project.

Why Control Moisture?
